A celebration of reading

Sam is born to read. He starts reading as a baby, and goes on to become a reading star, finding books to cover all his interests. He reads and reads, in bed, in the hall, at the mall, even while playing basketball. As a result of so much reading, he is able to accomplish all sorts of things. He helps with the grocery shopping, wins a bicycle race, and saves his town from the depredations of a spoiled baby giant. This book is great fun, with Judy Sierra's fanciful story, told in rollicking Seussian rhyme, perfect for read-alouds, and Marc Brown's lively, colorful illustrations, which show such favorite children's books as "The Cat in the Hat," "Arthur" and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." Adults may think this book is a bit message-heavy, but children love it. And I think it's a lot of fun, too.

AWESOME BOOK!!!

This is a must have for little readers or children getting ready to read. My son will be 3 in 2 months and he has this extreme desire to learn to how read. My husband found this book and had to buy it for him, and we all love it!! Such a cute, silly, and fun book to encourage and inspire children to read. This has become an instant favorite in our house!

I love this book!

This is such a FUN book! The story itself is really enjoyable and a great motivator for kids to read, the rhyming text has a wonderful rhythm, and the illustrations include several popular books, such as "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar," which is fun for my daughter to point out. I check out a stack of books from the library every other week, and typically just read them to my daughter while we have them and then move on to the next stack of books. This one, however, we will be buying! This is absolutely a book worth owning!

Very Smart Book

I have never reviewed a kids book before, but this one inspired me to. Especially after reading that the author is from my hometown of Oakland,Ca. The story in this book that a boy is reading from the time he is a toddler and grows up to read wherever he is, even when he is playing basketball, is a very smart way of getting young people to read. The T.V. is currently dominating the minds of young people and we need to use every means we can to get them inspired to read instead of sit in front of the tube. This book gets us a little closer to doing that. I recommend it and every other book that this author has written and you can find most of them at your local library.
