I have read all the books in the Other series and this is my favorite. Josie, the human female lead, is a veterinary doctor who is intelligent, dedicated, brave, sassy and independent. And Eli, the African lion male lead, is the town sheriff who is smart, dedicated and sexy. Together they solve the mystery of a bio-terrorism attak on the local Other community. A great read!

I really liked this story. The mystery in the plot was intriguing and the two main characters were very likeable. The female lead had a mind of her own but wasn't annoying with her independent attitude. I could relate to her concerns very easily. The male lead was alpha but refreshingly not another "tortured with a troubled past" male. Plus he is a man in uniform so who could resist that! The sex scenes between the two main characters were just right - hot but not too much or too many times so the sex didn't overpower the romance. The secondary characters added to the story but also did not take over the story line so that you wished it was their story that you were reading instead. In all, this was one of my favorite story in this series and I like the direction this author has taken with this series. The Kindle edition I bought was very readable, no formatting problems and barely any misspelled words. There were, however, a few obvious wrong words that should have been caught during editing but none of the errors were severe enough that it interfered with the reading. Based on the other reviews here, it sounds like the paperback version had the same mistakes. Since the story was well written and I love this series, I don't mind paying the Kindle price that equals the paperback price to support this author.

So being aware of the healing prowess of the dominant sentient Others, she is stunned when Sheriff Eli Pace carries into her clinic with a wounded female werewolf. Something is obvious not right in Stone Creek as the lupine fails to self heal as the shifters remarkably do rather swiftly or change into her human form. Other werewolves are also assaulted. Desperate Eli the lion shapeshifter asks the town vet to help him investigate what seems like a dangerous virus to shapeshifters, which puts the sheriff at risk. She agrees. As the human and the half lion fall in love, each knows uncovering the apparent biological weapon and who is behind it remain front and center. The key to this strong urban fantasy romantic suspense is that the growing love between the lead couple enhances their desperate search for answers. Thus the exciting investigation into biological warfare is the prime story line with the romance a wonderful subplot. Christine Warren provides another winning Other paranormal thriller (see Big Bad Wolf and You're So Vein). Harriet Klausner

For the most part I enjoy the Others books, and this one was decent, although definitely not my favorite of the series. (Spoiler Check) While I liked the general idea of the plot, the bio-terrorism idea has these huge implications that are only skimmed over, and at the end, the drama just deflates. Oh, he's dead now, problem solved? No need to worry about the crazy virus he already infected people with? If these books revolved around the same main characters from book to book instead of shifting between couples, I might be inclined to think the problem would continue to be addressed in the next installment. As it is though, I doubt it. In all fairness though, these books are romance novels, not science fiction thrillers. I must say though, as a frequent reader and someone who had 6 years of honors English classes, it's really hard to enjoy a professionally published book that is absolutely LITTERED with typos. There were more sentences throughout the book than I can count that made no sense unless you took out, added, or replaced a word that was in it. There were a few misspellings, but those are easier to ignore than a sentence that doesn't flow. I make no claims at being a perfect sentence-structurer (yes, I know that's not a word) or speller, but that's not my job. Whoever edited this book failed entirely. I feel like I purchased a draft copy instead of the final, ready-for-sale product.
