Ice Princess? No Way!

BORN IN ICE is the 2nd part of the Born In Trilogy -- This trilogy is about three sisters - two who know each other and one who is unknown. The sisters are so different, at times it's hard to image them coming from the same family. BORN IN ICE is the story of Brianna Concannon. Brianna has chosen to keep her family home and turn it into a bed and breakfast. During the harsh Irish winter, a long-term guest arrives that heats up even the coldest of nights. Grayson Thane, famous mystery writer, falls hard and fast for the quiet Brianna. And Brianna falls for Grayson, wondering if it will only last through the winter or a lifetime. This trilogy shows Roberts' cleaver characters, witty interactions, and vast descriptions of the Irish country that she seems to love so well. You couldn't ask for 3 better books! You have Fire (temper), Ice (patience) and Shame (out-of-wedlock child) that meld together to create a marvelous Irish tale. Come meet the daughters of Thomas Concannon, and see why Nora Roberts is one of the greatest romance writers of all time! I strongly recommend that you have all three books in your possession, because as soon as you finish one, you'll want to start the next immediately!

Romantic Leads, Redefined

What? So Nora Roberts wants us to think that an attractive man is one with an average build, a good sense of humor, lots of imagination, and plenty of maturity? So Nora Roberts wants us to think that an attractive woman is one with an average body, huge sense of loyalty, a high work ethic, and plenty of maturity? So Nora Roberts wants us to think that it's romantic for a man to hide in the bathroom so he can spend the night in his love's hospital room? For a man to bribe his love's mother with a gift. To think of his love's feelings before his own.So Nora Roberts wants us to think its romantic for a woman to wear conservative clothes, make a house a home, and tell the man she loves honestly how she feels about him.Yes! Thanks for the break from cardboard cutout characters.

"Born in Ice" is the second book in Nora Roberts' exceptional "Born in" trilogy. The writing in this book is first rate and the story will have you enchanted.Brianna Concannon, sister of Maggie, whose story was told in the first book, is a sweet, giving and selfless person. But in this story we get to see the strong and fiercely loyal woman beneath this soft exterior. When best-selling mystery novelist Grayson Thane arrives at Brianna's B & B he stirs all kinds of desires inside her. Grayson feels drawn to this lovely and compelling woman and the relationship that develops between these two is moving and delightful!Grayson is a wonderful hero who all readers will love. His impressions of Ireland as he sees it for the first time give the reader a perfect picture of this hauntingly beautiful country. As Brianna and Grayson fall in love, Grayson, a man who has never had the need or desire to put down roots, begins to wish for a home and a family as he never has before. In the end, Grayson must choose between the life he knows and is content with and the love he feels for Brianna. This story will touch your heart.I highly recommend this book and the other two in the trilogy. Although I am a fan of all of NR's work, I really believe that this trilogy is one of her very best. So read it today!

A wonderful hero sets this one apart

Book 2 of the "Born In" trilogy was actually my first introduction to Nora Roberts romances. I read it when I had just discovered her new romantic suspense novels, and a friend loaned me this one. It was wonderful, and now I've finally made my way back to it -- this time in its proper place in the trilogy. The heroine, Brianna Concannon, is almost too good and too sweet to be true. Her fiery sister Maggie seems so much more human. Yet in this novel, Brianna shows her true grit as well -- underneath that almost pathetic desire to please is a will of steel and a fierce loyalty to even those who don't inspire or deserve it.Yet it is the "hero", reformed teenage delinquent turned famous mystery novelist Grayson Thane, that really makes this one worth the read. Gray sees Ireland through first-timer's eyes, and makes the reader see it for the first time too (you can't not want to visit there after reading the descriptions in this book). Through it all is his odyssey to find a home he didn't even know he needed -- and certainly didn't want. Yet here, in this tiny village in the west counties of Ireland, he feels for the first time in his life the lure of putting down roots-- and has to decide whether to act upon it or not.

A beautiful story

I have read the whole "born in" trilogy and this was my favorite one. The serenity and coolness of Brianna matched with the anxiousness and humor of Grayson was irresistable. Nora Roberts is such a gifted novelist and a book like this gives all us romantics hope. This story has everything, passion, humor, seriousness, and sadness enough to make you cry. The way she had Grayson's catch phrase "Let me tell you a story" throughout the book was brilliant because you never knew what type of story it was, be it happy or sad. It's a novel of great depth and definately does not fall in the "Trashy Romance Novel" catagory that so many people are apt to put these types of books in. If you're a big "Born in Fire" fan also, never fear. Maggie and Rogan are also woven through this spellbinding tale. I have reread this book many times and never fail to cry at the end.
