Booktalk! 2: Booktalking for All Ages and Audiences

The local library offered my students the opportunity to preform book talks at the state library conference. In return, they would have the opportunity to have lunch with a well know author. Without thinking, I instantly said yes! What was I thinking? I had never done booktalks before, I didn't even know what a "booktalk" was let alone have my students present them in front of hundreds of people!In seeking help, the librian suggested Booktalks 2. It became my text book for learning, demonstrating and teaching booktalks. It had wonderful current sample booktalks for all ages, primary through adult, as well as techniques for talking and teaching.I was able to begin the unit by reciting the talks that were furninshed in the book (citing reference to the author of course), then creating my own. By the end of the unit, my 6th grade class was talking up a storm!Booktalks 2 is a must have resourse for any teaching just starting Booktalking or even for the more experienced talker!
