This story is all about a Mexican/american couple's relationship. Helen Forster is trapped at the island of Cedros serving a debt to Luis San Roque. Her brother played fraud and stole $[...] dollars from Roque's business company. She has been forced by Roque to act as an employee until the debt has been repaid. She has also been required to temporarily marry Luis, for the reasons of truly being trapped into repaying her brother's debt. The female main character is an "untouched" 25 year old very unconfident, red-haired woman who has a head for business. The male main character is of course, "touched" tall, dark, and handsome Mexican man (about 35 years old). This is a "you either love it or hate it" book. If you are not fond of father figures as husbands you probably won't like this book. I mean father figure as not being able to question any command he says. However, if you are fond of male dominating main characters, this is your story. Warning though, almost all of the book deals with Luis desiring to make the marriage "real" and Helen denying him. The characters do not actually fall in love to the very last pages of the book. However, Roque plays like fairy godmother to Cinderella (Helen). He makes her begin to believe in herself. Her brother and father had always taken her for granted, causing her to believe she was "less than a woman". Roque forces her to realize and use her potential. He is a rich man, she a financially struggling woman. The first time I read this book I didn't like it for some reason. Then, as I reread it, I fell in love with it.
