I'm sorry to say that I was disappointed with this book and only got a couple chapters in before I lost interest and tossed it aside. I don't really think it was all that bad but it was a bit cliche. It just seemed very formulaic and the characters were uninteresting and predictable.

1st in series

great introduction to a new series. Carlotta former rich girl working retail becomes involved in some shady things & meets some intriguing people in the process

Fast, Funny, and Fabulous Action!

Could not put this book down! If you are a fan in Kinsey Milhone, (RIP Sue Grafton) you will love Carlotta. She takes her lumps and comes up swinging. Lots of fun, quirky characters and enough action to keep you wondering what next. Can't wait to start book 2!

I LOVE this new series!!!

Carlotta Wren is a fashionista. Or as much of a fashionista as one can be on a fixed budget. She was once a pampered little rich girl; living it up with her affluent family. Then her father was accused of embezzlement, he and her mother skipped bail (and town) and she was left to raise her 9 year old brother. Not something easily overcome. Ten years later, Carlotta is selling retail at Neiman Marcus while her brother Wesley is up to his eyeballs in debt with a few loan sharks. Life just won't cut the two a break. After Wesley gets arrested for hacking into the City's computers, the ten year old case against their fugitive parents is brought to the front burner again. All at once Carlotta is dealing with an irritating, yet sexy Detective Jack Terry as he works both her brother and her parents' criminal cases. But that is the least of Carlotta's problems. Her brother has finally grown up and gotten himself a job. One would expect her to be proud for his initiative. And she would be. If only he wasn't hauling bodies for the local morgue. Of course his boss, Cooper Craft, isn't hard on the eyes. But still, hauling bodies? Of course, his first transport happens to be her ex-fiancé's dead wife. Now suddenly Peter Ashford (the ex who abandoned her after her parents skipped town) is apologizing like crazy and wanting to resume their relationship. You'd think having three sexy men on the line would be any girl's dream? But how do you choose between them? Add in a killer intent on pinning a couple of murders on Peter, even if it means killing Carlotta to do so, and you have major confusion. What's a girl to do, besides shop that is? I can honestly say that I LOVED reading Stephanie Bond's Body Mover series. I know I have reviewed Ms. Bond in the past and raved about her books, but until you have read this author, you truly can't appreciate the prolific talent she posses. She can go from a Sex for Beginners Harlequin Blaze Trilogy where she tied me up in knots with the hot sizzling sex scenes; and then jump to a mystery so involving I honestly didn't guess the bad guy until he attacked Carlotta in the elevator. That was just with book one. Book two and three were just as amazing and hard to solve. Ms. Bond did a fabulous job of tying each book into the next one. So much so that I can honestly say I felt like I was reading one novel. If any of you have read Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum Series (and liked them), you will definitely fall for Stephanie Bond's Body Mover Series. This was a fun, fast paced read where I was left to ponder who I think would make the best match of the three men for Carlotta. Each book gives the reader a deeper understanding of Carlotta's personality and a deeper look into the relationships she has with each man. I have no idea who she will end up with (although I do have my favorite!!!) and I will definitely be looking forward to Ms. Bond's back to back releases of books 4, 5, and 6 in hopes of getting closer to solving the p

turned out to be a great read!

I almsot marked this a 4 because I was so mad at the first maybe 80 pages or so (couldn't stand her brother and her continuing to put her life on hold for the loser and also didn't like her being treated like lowlife by a former friend) but I'm glad I kept at this one because the brother though continually in one mess after another seems to be trying here and there and there was always something going on to keep the story moving. I think Bond usually writes romance (or that's what I've seen in the Blaze line but she's a new author for me and I've recently gotten several of her other books) but this really isn't a romance though there are sexual situations/innuendos here and there but not actual 'sex'. there are 3 men 'interested' in the the main character and one I don't think is worth the time of day though the other 2 I'd have a bit of trouble picking between...and the brother has the hots for his parole officer. Oh and this 'ends' with the current 'storyline' but also ends wtih the pickup/tension for the next book (andI've heard the 2ndbook ends the same way with something happening we have to wait a year for the sequel)..I don't particularly like that and since there are supposedly several of these to be done I hope she puts out at least 2 per year or I'll be reading these when I'm 50! overall a nice story once you get past the first few chapters and just relax and go with it!

Original Story- Great Read

Carlotta and Wren haven't grown up in the typical household: their parents, convicted fellons, fled from the authorities when Carlotta was in High School. Faced with raising her brother, Carlotta's life changed and not in the good way. Her fiance dumped her, all of her friends turned their backs on her and she was forced to get a job in retails. Fast forward a few years and Carlotta suddenly finds herself involved in the murders of rich women in her ex-fiance's rich Atlanta neighborhood. This book is FUN FUN FUN. It never has a dull moment...a must read!

What a fun story....

The title of this book is what drew me to it originally and I am so glad that it did. This was such a fun and entertaining story with a great criminal case thrown in. I am usually good at guessing the killer in a story but this one came out of nowhere and I was very surprised. I am so excited to see that there is going to be another in what I hope will become a series with these delightful characters.

engaging amateur sleuth

When her father Randolph Wren and her mother Valerie fled Atlanta rather then face criminal proceedings, they left behind their eighteen years old daughter Carlotta and her nine years old brother Wesley. Not long after the scandal exploded, Carlotta's fiancé U of Tennessee student Peter Ashford ended their engagement and eventually married obnoxious Angela. Carlotta's fairy tale life ended with her working in retail and raising her sibling as a single mom at Neiman Marcus. A decade later, Wesley is arrested for computer hacking and has a sizable gambling debt. Stunned and feeling like a failure, Carlotta is attracted to Atlanta Police Detective Jack Terry whom she met when he investigated her brother. She next meets Jack when she becomes the prime suspect in Angela's murder. Not one to sit idly by, Carlotta begins her own brand of investigating even as Peter confesses and Jack thinks she is back with her former fiancé. The BODY MOVERS is an engaging amateur sleuth tale with romantic and police procedural underpinnings. Carlotta holds the entertaining story line together as she intrepidly sets off to learn the truth, but seems to land in one misadventure after another; who could know that the Lenox Mall holds so much danger and excitement? Fans will appreciate her finding work for Jack and look forward to her next escapades as suddenly daddy has called for the first time since he deserted her. Harriet Klausner
