I really enjoyed this book overall. I liked the setting, as it is a fictious island near my community. Once I "bought into" the main characters, I was excited to continue reading to unravel the mystery. Although a little predictable, Judith French throws a few twists that keep the reader guessing. I like her wrtitng style and the local lore intertwined in the novel.

Judith French never fails to deliver a great read...and this one is a keeper. It's filled with interesting characters and lots of suspenseful twists and turns. And the imagery is stirringly realistic; I could smell the salt in the air, hear the gulls lonely call, see the marsh reeds of Tawes Island. I highly recommend this book.

As usual, French weaves an intriguing plot with memorable characters. The story pace is perfect, yet French manages to create vivid imagery and character development. If you'd like to take a vacation, just pick up this copy of French's latest novel. You'll swear that you're on the Eastern Shore in the midst of a crime.
