Good series

I think a Nora Roberts fan would like this. It's a quick bug enjoyable read. I like some characters more than others, but if you like mushy stuff with some paranormal thrown in then give this one a try.

My very first Nora Roberts book

Never hearing of Nora Roberts, but just by reading what the book was about was enough for me to buy it and boy was I hooked! I hated having to wait for the other books to follow. Loved the suspense of almost witch craft like things that went on in her books.

Great Product

The book itself is the beginning of a wonderful series. At first I did not think I would like it, but a lady got me into it from work. I am very glad she did. It's not the same old romance novel.. there's actually a plot that doesn't involve just the romance. Nora Roberts has does a great job and is one of my favorite writers. I would recomment this book to anyone.

Thriller

I have been saving these books to read during my spring break. They were worth the wait. Super books. Kept me up at night, reading lare and then I couldn't sleep because of nightmares.

Blood brothers

Wow this first in the Trilogy really grabs you and you know you will need the next two books....How great for my book collection

Intriguing approach to 'horror'

Other books would focus on the details of the demon's attacks on the town, the 'infection' and madness, suicides, assaults, murders. Instead, while these come up now and then, they aren't the focus of the book. Blood Brothers is as much a mystery as it is a horror novel. You could say that this series was written for those of us who chuckle every time we read one of those 'lessons learned from a horror movie' emails that goes around, or who roll our eyes when the girl in the horror movie freaks out and runs straight into the bad guy's arms. It's for all of us who want to know why the good guy imprisoned the bad guy centuries ago, risking release centuries later, rather than eliminating him. It's for readers who get frustrated with horror characters that run around getting mown down by evil rather than fighting back. When the demon tries to drive the women away from the town they've been drawn to, they don't run away. They decide it's time to find out why things are happening they way they are and how to end them. The whole group goes into research mode, interviewing Cal's 97-year-old great-grandmother, reading the journals of an ancestor, consulting with experts on demonology in Europe, figuring out the women's connection to the town, and trudging out to the Pagan Stone in the forest where everything started. This being a Nora Roberts book, characterization is beautiful, and key to the story. Every character is fascinating and unique, from Cal and Quinn (the foreground characters in Blood Brothers) to Cal's extended web of relatives and acquaintances, and yes, even his dog. I've often wondered how Ms. Roberts can keep up such entertaining and fun descriptions and dialogue for book after book; it feels as though she writes them with every bit as much joy and mirth as radiates from the lines she's written. Blood Brothers is part horror/paranormal, part mystery, part romance, and all amazing. Due to the research angle I imagine there are some people who might find it too 'talky' if that isn't what they're in the mood for. However, the plot & background are so fascinating as they get teased apart, and the characters and their dialogue so interesting, that I daresay as long as you aren't specifically in the mood for something else, you'll get quite a charge from this engrossing story.

EXCITING PART 1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reviews for this book have been all over the spectrum - mainly because it wasn't what readers were expecting. This book is not in the romance genre at all. It is full of supernatural elements and suspense revolving around 3 boyhood friends. I also saw a lot of criticism about it being about 3 boys stating it has been done before, but it is a trilogy, so that is what I expected as in keeping with her many past trilogies. I loved this 1st book, and can't wait for the next two to be released. This unique unusual story is full of suspense and a definite creepiness factor. Cal, Fox, and Gage - Three friends from childhood that act and feel more like brothers, and the women Quinn, Layla, and Cybil that were drawn to this little town were well written, quirky, and yet very different individuals. I also liked the fact that during their journey together, even though it is serious, there were some unexpected funny moments too. I also appreciated that even though this was Cal and Quinn's story, all the characters were very involved in the story. The Key series and Garden series have been my favorites, but if this series continues as it started, I will have to add it to my favorites.
