A FALLEN OFFICER Glenn Turner was a big strong cop, a good friend, a loyal husband, and a loving son. But Glenn died in agony-his body racked with spasms, his mind plunged into delirium. And by the time he was found dead, Glen's wife was more than ready for his funeral. A SEDUCTIVE WIDOW Julia "Lynn" Turner, a former sheriff's assistant and 911 operator, had a thing for men in uniform-and for their money. While detectives and forensic examiners ruled Glenn's death the result of a virulent flu, time would tell another story. Lynn was already secretly living with Randy Thompson, a firefighter, who would meet the same excruciating death… A POISONOUS TRUTH… Driven by family who would not give up their quest for justice, a new investigation and an explosive trial eventually exposed the truth about a woman who had a way of making men die, and about a means of murder that was pure intoxicating evil.
Collins does an excellent job of exposing the character of the "black widow" Lynn. And what a cold, self-absorbed woman Lynn was! Everything had to be about her, all the time. First, she ran after Glenn until he finally proposed. Glenn was a cop, a large, cheerful man who was decent and loyal. In many ways, an ideal husband. But Lynn was furious when it turned out that the honeymoon cruise he took her on turned out to be a river cruise aimed mostly at families. Too selfish to care if she hurt his feelings, she complained loud and long about the family cruise and refused to sleep with him. Later, Glenn confided to one of his friends that Lynn had only seen fit to sleep with him twice during all the time they had been married. Lynn told him she had medical problems. However, there were no medical problems that stopped her from sleeping with lots of other men, especially one fireman. She allowed Glenn to work three jobs to keep up with her lavish spending while she showered expensive gifts on her newest lover. Lynn killed twice, both times using antifreeze. Antifreeze causes horrible, unendurable pain. How could she watch men she claimed to love die in such agony? Well written and absorbing, this one is a keeper.
Black Widow

I had seen the story on this case on Investigation Discovery and wanted to read the book. It is still difficult to believe that there are such greedy people in the world--not only killing the first husband, but the second one, too--when all these men were guilty of was falling for a shallow, monetarily driven woman who inflicted such pain on these men. Good book, but a sad story for the families.
The Anti-Freeze Murders!

Glenn Turner and Randy Thompson were both men who any woman would have been lucky to have won over as a spouse. Glenn Turner was a police officer in Georgia and Randy Thompson was a fireman also in Georgia. Although they were separated by different counties, a woman named Julia Lynn would come into their lives and ruin it for them and their families. At first, Julia Lynn who goes by the name of Lynn was the adoring, beloved girlfriend who later in turn changed into an evil, hateful, woman who would take the lives of two men whose only crime was that they loved her and wanted to work things out in their relationship with her. Sadly, Lynn is called the Black Widow. She didn't marry Randy because it meant losing her lifelong pension from Glenn's job. She used both Glenn and Randy and once they were won over to her side despite Glenn's family and friends dislike for her. She had no use for them whatsoever and had to remove them from her life in the most awful way possible by using anti-freeze in their foods which leads to a very painful and incruciating death. She was convicted in Glenn's case but the state of Georgia went after her again in Randy's case seeking the death penalty. I would have expected more information about Lynn's childhood and life that may help answer the questions as to what motivated her to do such awful actions against two men who served their communities. It's women like Lynn who give the rest a bad name.
