Black Girl, Call Home

There aren't enough hours in a day to talk about what all I loved about this masterpiece; I definitely don't regret buying this impulsively after stumbling upon it in my local bookstore. The writing is lyrical and poetic, captivating in a way that immerses you into the deeper context/ themes discussed in the book. From systematic racism, internalized anti-blackness, and misogynoir to feminism, lesbianism, and trans-womanhood, there's more themes discussed in this piece than I've ever seen in any other poetry book I've read.
