Part Four, "Materials transport and heat transfer," focuses on salt and water transport in biological systems, biophysical studies on the structure and function of biomembranes, and heat transfer in biomaterials. The book's last part, "Medical problems and the answers provided by materials science," remarks on such topics as joint wear, orthopedic implants, and engineering in physical rehabilitation.
