This in an exceptionally useful tool for the pre-school child. Our youngest daughter was the beneficiary of its thoughtful design and graded challenges in numeracy and literacy, during the recent Christmas vacation, and simply, couldn't get enough of it. Of course, the reward system of the stars added a wee carrot for her exploits. And it was a useful, if not necessary thing, to sit right through each session with her, to ensure she wasn't skipping or getting lax with her level of accomplishment. This was not an oderous task for either my wife or me. I highly recommend the book, as a lead in to fully-fledged primary school, and am in fact, currently searching for its successor.
