An affectionate and amusing look at the everyday world of little (and not so little) children. What are babies like? How about big kids? And everyone in between? With signature bright colors and bouncy verse, Catherine and Laurence Anholt offer a warm tribute to children everywhere. Their charming vignettes fill five chapters: --Very Little Children --Little Children's Likes and Loves --How Little Children Feel --What Little Children Do --Little Children's Families Drawing on their own considerable experience as parents, the authors of Catherine and Laurence Anholt's Big Book of Little Children explore children's likes and loves, hates and hopes, feelings and friends, favorite activities, families, and more, all with heartfelt perception and an abundance of humor.
My nearly three-year-old adores this book. She notices new things in the pictures every night, and she's learned new words (bellow and bawl being two favorites). The diversity in the book is great although the rhythms are funky at times. She can't get enough of some pages, but other pages hold no interest (like siblings...she has none, and cannot relate yet). If you have twin girls, this may be a good book for you as well. They appear, without explanation, throughout the book.
my 2 year old loves it!!!

Got this book originally from the library and am now purchasing it because my daughter needs to hear it every night! She loves the pictures of all the different children doing fun things. There are fun rhymes too. There are sections called little childrens likes and loves, what little children don't like etc.. my 5 year old likes this too and it can be a good way to talk about feelings with older kids. So much going on in a compact little book. Everytime we read it my daughter seems to make new discoveries about things on the pages.
