beautiful trip to Prince Edward Island

"That's the thing about forgiveness - it's a renewable resource. The act of giving it fills you up to give it again. The more you practice forgiveness, the more you have to give." Liz Johnson's contemporary romance books are a must-read for me and this book, her newest, showcases exactly why. From the opening chapter, the characters and the plot are captivating and the plot has a nice smooth flow with easy-to-read writing. There is great humor peppered throughout the book that you won't be able to help the wide grins and occasional laugh-out-loud moments. There is plenty of heartache and grief seen through Meg and her father as they care for a rapidly deteriorating loved one. Oliver has a difficult, painful, and shameful past to overcome but his gentle, tender, hard-working humility shows what God can do when we put ourselves at His feet. How brokenness can become redeemed and forgiveness can conquer fear really struck home through this book. And I learned quite a bit about lobstering in the beautiful Prince Edward Island. I can't wait for the next two books where we'll get to know Oliver's brothers better! I received the book from Baker Publishing Group via Interviews & Reviews and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are solely my own.

Frienemies

5 stars, Frienemies BEYOND THE TIDES by Liz Johnson Oliver Ross has struck a deal of a lifetime with Mr. Whitaker, the owner of a lobster fishing boat and coveted permit. The only problem is, Mr. Whitaker's only child, a daughter named Meg has suddenly decided that she should be the one to take over the business and permit, no one else, especially not Oliver Ross, who is her sworn enemy, since he maliciously destroyed her science project and caused her to lose an important scholarship when they were in school together. Meg Whitaker is an accomplished teacher, but she resigns in order to fulfill her father's wishes, to prove to him that she is capable of managing his lobster boat and permit. Her father reneges on Oliver's deal to purchase the business from him he decides to let Meg and Oliver work the boat for the lobster season and at the end of the season, he'll pick whichever he believes to be the most worthy of his family's business. A trusted friend of Oliver's encourages him to be nice to Meg, even though all of their problems began with his treatment of Meg. The friend lets him know that he should make a strong attempt at becoming friends with Meg so that they can have a successful lobster season. Meg isn't sure that she can trust Oliver, since he had hurt her so badly, in the past. But, after a few mishaps, the two begin a fledgling friendship, partnership, and begin the road towards forgiveness and redemption. Highly recommend. Much gratefulness to #Revell for the complimentary copy of #beyondthetides I was under no obligation to post a review.
