Beyond Basics: A Developmental Reading Program

BEYOND BASICS SERIES, which has nine levels from Reading Level 4/D to Level 12/L, enables you to develop "Comprehenstion Skills", "Reference Skills", "Textbook Skills" and "Literary Skills". When I teach my students in my reading class, I always start with letting them know how paragraphs are made. Knowing that will make it possible for them to read and write much more easily and more effectively.The first chapter of this book (Level 7/B) tells you what "Main Idea" is, how to understand "Chronological and Spatial Order" or "Cause and Effect" , how to distinguish "Fact" from "Opinion" and how to draw "Conclusions". This book is written in such plain English as any student can understand. It is full of exercises (with "Answer Key"),which I find very successful in developing reading skills. Any student wanting to know what paragraphs are should read this series.
