Stuart Woods Does it Again

I'm a big Stuart Woods fan and this novel did not disappoint. I love the Rick Baron character and the 1940-50s hollywood era. This book is a true gem.

Very different style.....

This book is totally different from others by Stuart Woods. It deals with McCarthyism in Hollywood and I wasn't sure I would like it. Woods, as always, puts together a great story with believable characters. The storyline, based on real events, flowed. another winner for Stuart Woods!

WOW - Stuart Woods does it again !

Stuart Woods is my all time favorite author! I've read all his books and I just can't wait until he publishes the next one. This book 'Beverly Hills Dead' is no exception -- once you start reading, you just can't put this book down. This isn't a Stone Barrington story -- it's a Rick Barron story which is really good as well.. To understand the Rick Barron character, read the 'Prince of Beverly Hills' prior to reading this book. You'll get to know Rick better by doing this. Enjoy! :-)

Underworld events and shady happenings mark a vivid story that comes to life in audio.

Stuart Woods' BEVERLY HILLS DEAD receives Tony Roberts' excellent Broadway acting background as it tells of one Rick, a former Beverly Hills police officer immersed in Hollywood glamour and style, who runs into a Red Scare and a search for espionage behind Hollywood's facade. Underworld events and shady happenings mark a vivid story that comes to life in audio.

A page turner from a very real time in history

In the late 1940s, Los Angeles detective Rick Barron returns in Beverly Hills Dead. He is the head of production for a studio and the Red scare (of communism) is just beginning. I find this era especially fascinating, especially in the mystery genre. You'll read about movie making, celebrities, political intrigue and, oh yes, a murder. Tensions were especially high in Hollywood during that time. It was a time when such people as Lucille Ball was called before the House Un-American Activities Committee. Rick's friend Sidney Brooks who is a successful screenwriter, gets a subpoena from the House Un-American Activities Committee. This was a witch hunt that spread like wild fire. Rick's closest friends are under investigation, including his wife, Glenna Gleason, lovely starlett. The story is set in a time of suspicion. The time was very real. Beverly Hills Dead is Stuart Woods's best novel yet. It is fast-paced and sexy. A real thriller and page turner. Highly recommended.
