As a gourmet chef I review alot of cookbooks, plus the fact that I have an entire wall of cookbooks (I'm addicted). However, there are two books that are my absolute favorites when I am cooking for a few people or just family. They are an old copy (approx. 1978) Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook and Better Homes and Gardens Classic International Recipes. They are always my fallback position at home. The photography is wonderful and I have never tried a recipe from either that wasn't absolutely delicious.
A WORLD OF TASTES

I have "discovered" cuisines of many countries I would never have tried otherwise. The recipes are excellent and doable. An added touch is photographs and short explanations of how dishes figure into the ways of the countries covered. The African dishes are peerless.
