Bummer

This was a bummer. There are not that many recipes. Most are stuff no kid wants. The others were hotdogs and baked potatoes. stuff you don't need recipes for. They made it look fun but I thought it was recipes the kids could learn from and get into helping cook. NO it was a complete waste

Recipes based on the food pyramid

Recipes are based on the outdated and unhealthy food pyramid. Recipes can be altered to make them healthy but children will need assistance. Do not recommend this book for healthy cooking. Has good information for beginners like how to set a table, glossery of cooking terms, tools of cooking. Not a total loss.

A great cookbook for beginners of ALL ages!

Someone gave me this cookbook when I was a child-yes, one of the original prints! I've kept it all these years for sentimental reasons and, also, we still like to use some of the recipes! The recipe for french toast is still used to this day! I remember trying out so many of the recipes and they're still hard to beat. I fully recommend this cookbook for "kids" of all ages. For mom's (and dad's,too!) this is a great way to involve the kids in cooking and baking. They can help read the directions and prepare the recipe, too! A great buy!

A Comfort Food Cookbook

A fabulous book for the adult beginner cook, as well as for children. For those who collect cookbooks, as I do, especially vintage, this is definitely a title to add. The recipes are clear, concise, and easy to follow. The illustrations are pure 1950's Americana, and one could easily picure Beaver Cleaver learning to cook from this book. Comfort Food for the Cookbook lover!

Great Beginner Book (for even NON-beginners)

I purchased this book for my son who had expressed an interest in cooking. This is a great beginner book that lies flat on the table/counter ... you don't need 4 pair of hands to hold the book down (which ultimately might break the binding of the book). The recipies are easy to read and sorted in a good manner. We've even pulled a new 'favorite' recipe for Macaroni and Cheese from this book. Anytime we want homemade M & C, we dig out my this book!My son .... we'll he's headed off to a Culinary Arts school. Buy this book and you'll eat well. =-)

Easy recipes with the results also enjoyed by adults

We stumbled upon this book in the library and didn't want to bring it back. My 9 year old daughter has made several of the recipes completely on her own. The delicious results have been enjoyed by the entire family. Most recipes are quite nutritious with nutrition facts per serving accompanying each recipe. The "Groovie Smoothies" were truly groovy. With the variety of recipes contained in this book, there is something for everyone here. Great layout too.

TERRIFIC for young cooks.

My eight year old can make entire dishes all on her own -- from start to finish -- from this book. She is so proud when she does it! Step by step instructions are accurate and complete. Dishes taste good, too. I am recommending this book to all of my friends.
