ok im 13, and when i was like uhm maybe 2-5 i LOVED betsy. everytime i would go to the Libary with my mom i would get a Betsy book. i loved her so much i named my imaginary friend after her. betsy was a BIG thing in my life and i love these books

All of the Betsy books were absolute favorites of my daughter who is now 23. The illustrations ar marvelous, the daycare worker is a man, the doctors are women and Betsy is a spunky pre-schooler who takes it upon herself to fix her own toys with grown up tools. They are absolutely empowering. In Betsy and the chicken pox Betsy is jealous of her brother who is getting extra attention while sick so she feigns ilness as well. Mom gets mad at Betsy for this. Dad gets mad at mom and everyone has a bit of a yelling match - just like in real families. What a shame these are out of print and I am so glad my daughter kept them to share!
