Betsey Fretz was a dreamy, wishful girl of ten from Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1803. She wishes for a new dress, but cloth had to be made from flax, a long process. Betsy learns to be content even if her wishes do not materialize.
Betsey's Wishes is an interesting look at the process of making cloth from flax.

This book is an historically correct look at the work that making a dress used to take. It was not a simple process of going to Walmart and picking it off of the rack. The writer has researched her topic well. It is an interesting look at colonial life. I read it to my 4th and 5th graders at story time. We all really enjoyed it.
