Beautifully written and can be read in one day. Do yourself a favour and get this book, irrespective of your religion or faith. Everyone could do with studying the examples of those described herein. Despite the negative reviews from some readers, the reasons they give are subjective. (i.e. - they disagree with Mr. Telchin's conclusions). Nevertheless, this is an excellent book on the topic at hand (one family's search for the Messiah). Saying you disagree with their conclusions doesn't make this a bad book, or even a dangerous one.On the contrary. I found the level of research done by Mr. Telchin extraordinary. The accusations of misinterpretation notwithstanding, he addresses a lot of scriptures which not a few people (Jews included) have accepted as speaking of the Messiah, and gives "his" reasons for believing that they point to the historical Jesus.I found it fascinating, and illuminating from a Jewish perspective of Jesus' Messianic claims.

Some religious Jewish people will be offended by this book and that cannot be helped. Any book which presents a controversial topic is going to get slammed. But the fact is, and Stan presents it very well and very readably, there is a strong case to be made for the Messiahship of Jesus. Stan shows how one Jewish person, with a good Jewish education and strong ties to the Jewish community, looked at the evidence and was convinced. Those who do not find the evidence presented by Stan convincing can nonetheless see his sincerity throughout. With a Masters degree in Hebrew Bible, I feel qualified to say that the passages from the Hebrew Bible that Stan discusses are almost all translated very well and Stan's interpretation is sound in nearly every instance. I have seen this book change the lives of Christians and Jews alike and have given away dozens of copies myself.

Stan Telchin has faced one of the most difficult situations a man could face. Stan had to choose between the daughter he loved and his faith.. For those outside the Jewish faith, it is very difficult to imagine the sadness of a much loved daughter apparently rejecting all that she was brought up to believe (Family values are still very strong within the Jewish community). Stan, throughout the book describes the search he made into his faith and the roots of Judaism, this being the result of his daughter's new found faith. He discovered the possibility that his daughter had found something which answered many of his questions. An ideal book for Jewish people who are faced with a member of their family changing to what appears to be a foreign faith. For the Christian, this book is NOT about the victory of another convert, but a book about the search for the true Hebrew roots of Judaism and our Christian heritage. It is also a book which causes us to walk humbly before our G'd. The Jewish people have always expected Messiah to come to their aid. - Y'shua (that is J'sus,) according to His followers, believe Him to be that person. Could Y'shua be that long awaited Messiah Stan's daughter now believed in? This is Stan's story, it's better to leave him to tell you the rest. A very enjoyable, heart lifting book.

Stan Telchin describes how angry he was when his daughter converted from Judaism to Christianity. Most of the book describes his research in the Jewish Old Testament and history, in an attempt to prove to his daughter that the New Testament was false and not to be trusted. Instead, as a result of his research, Stan became convinced that Jesus was the Messiah, even though he fought it for months. Then his friends became extremely angry with him, for the same reason he was angry with his daughter. Stan gives a great comparison of OT prophecy and how Jesus fulfilled them. Both Christians and Jews alike forget that Jesus and Jews were about the only Christians for about the first 100 or so years. Gentile Christians became a majority in the new church only after 200 AD or so.
