Informative for traveling to Iceland

I bought this book when I was off to Iceland. It is small, compact and informative. I have been sidelined due to the volcanic action - so I have not actually reached Iceland yet. I expect this book will be helpful when I finally get there.

Good content; maps too small

I really liked this guide book. The content was great, readable and well indexed. My only problem is with the maps. While it's great to include the maps as fold-outs in the book, in my opinion they are too small to be of much use. I understand the problems of providing the maps as separate stand-alones. Maybe if the format of the book were made larger (it seems to unusually small but I guess it's designed to fit in a jacket pocket)the maps would be more readable.

"Best of Reykjavik" review by Giovanni

An easy guide of the Icelandic capital. A detailed map on the first and last pages will help you to find all the places described in the guide. The reading is facilitate by an useful suddivsion of types of places and sightseens. At the end of the guide you can find an useful addendum containing travel, climatic, moneys, health and language informations. Giovanni

What a Little Gem

My wife and I spent 4 days in Reykjavik a couple of weeks ago, and we found this little gem of a book to be invaluable in guiding us through our first vacation experience in Iceland. Reading the book, it was clear that the author had lived there at some point, and more importantly, that she understood Icelandic people well. All the recommendations, whether for hotels, restaurants, tours, etc. were extremely helpful, and the recommendations were right on; none dissapointed. The map on the back of the book was even more helpful than the one we received at the hotel. In short, we carried this little book everywhere. Great Lonely Planet guide; I highly recommend it.
