Can't Let Go

Trevor and Joshua have been together for twenty years. They share a love and a life together. Then the unthinkable happened and Joshua is forced into early retirement. After that, they've become polite strangers who lived in the same house. Unable to readjust after twenty-five years of being a cop, Joshua Dimmick withdraws not only from everyone around him, but the person who matters most to him. Joshua is distant and quiet, and not sharing with Trevor about what's going on in his head and his heart. Trevor Emerton easily moves from the academic life as a professor of art history, into the daily humdrum life in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He knows he wants to spend his life with Joshua, but living with him hasn't been easy. Trevor finds it difficult to get through Joshua's indifference about a life not revolving around work. Joshua doesn't know how to make Trevor understand that being a cop isn't something he can turn off overnight. Then there's a fire next door. Joshua begins to think there's more to the neighbor's death than just an accident. He wants to convince Trevor in seeing that the neighbor was murdered. To do that, Trevor has to be willing to see the world the way Joshua does as a former homicide detective. When things start unraveling, Joshua doesn't know if he's imagining things or if there's a connection between their neighbor's death and an unsolved murder from years ago. Joshua will do whatever it takes to get through the mystery. Trevor must decide if he believes Joshua, if he's willing to follow him though the mystery, or if there's something else going on. Entretaining for the werewolf enthusiast...

The novel has an incredible fast pace, no long and boring descriptions, just action from the start, so it is very entretaining. It´s funny how everyone that´s not like "people in a magazine ad. Young, beautiful, healthy, rich" ends up being a werewolf... I enjoyed it, but I think The Wolfen by Whitley Striber is a much better novel (and movie)

''Full Moon''

Gary Brandner's Howling is the best book that I've ever read. A bit picturesque, grotesque, and erotic. Karyn is brutally raped in her apartment. Her therapist said that she and Roy vacation is Drago a town outside of Los Angeles,California. Things seem to get a little hairy while vacationing, Roy gets seduced by Marca then he gradually changes into a ''werewolf''. Karyn feels uncomfortable in this town when she hears prowls...

A Great Read

I saw the movie version of "The Howling" many years ago. The one element which really stands out in my memory was the amazing special effects. It was the first movie to really show a graphic, "realistic" transformation from man to wolf, pulsing skin and all. Before "American Werewolf in London." Before "Thriller." But that's about ALL I really remember. The amazing transformations, not the story itself. As such, I cannot...

The book that started it all for me...

Gary Brander's HOWLING was the first adult horor novel I ever read (back in 1978, when I was 11 or 12) and I credit it with launching my lifetime love (and obsession) for horror fiction. It's a bit tame by today's standards, but it is so engaging and neat, that I still find myself picking it up every few years to relive the excitement and delightful terror that it inspired in me the first time I read it... A young woman is...

Allright....

This book was good but wasn't great. There weren't too many frightening scenes, really. When you get down to it, the beginning rape scene is more shocking than anything else. This book also has a few explicit depictions of sex whichh makes the reader wonder whether or not this is a porno that claims to be horror. If you like this type of stuff, than make a decision. If you're looking for horror prepared to be disappointed...
