A Memorable Fly Fishing Memoir

Paul Ford's Beloved Waters is a fine example of fireside reading, one of those books an outdoor enthusiast stretches out with at the end of a long day outside or during the dull days of a long, cold winter. Ford takes the reader to the northwest and the tropics, fishes for steelhead and tarpon, and tells some great stories in the poetic process. At the end of the second chapter -- "My Stilly" -- Ford writes: "There is poetry in this place." There is indeed poetry in the prose of Beloved Waters, and excellent b & w illustrations by Jerry Ellis. Many anglers these days catch and release their fish, but this book of fish stories is a keeper!
