Bella Basset Ballerina

Bella falls in love with ballet and decides that she wants to become a ballerina. Bassets are supposed to work on the farm, not dance. Will Bella make her dream into a reality or will she follow in the footsteps of her family? My nephew enjoyed this book. He's a dog lover and really liked the main character.

If you are a Basset fan, or even if you're not, this book is sure to please both listeners and readers alike!

This beautifully illustrated picture book will tickle children of an age to appreciate it (ages 6 and up.) Bella falls in love with ballet after her mother takes her to see a famous production. Her love and passion keep her from losing heart despite other's comments that Bella is not the type of dog that makes a ballerina. The book's message is that persistence pays and passion trumps any perceived limitations. The vocabulary can be difficult for younger children. It may be beneficial to look up the different dog breeds prior to reading the book and discussing what these dogs are "typically" thought to be good at. I gave my little sister this book for her birthday and she asks me to read it to her almost every night. She loves the pictures and story. Now she wants me to get her a basset hound so she can name it Bella.

I've read this book to children and pet lovers and they can't get enough of it! This book is beautifully illustrated (the details are amazing!) and the life lesson it teaches to children hits home for parents like me. This is a classic and something you'll be happy to read time and time again to your kids.
