Being a Better Me

My 10 year old daughter read "Being A Better Me" after a socially difficult school year. I didn't ask her to read it. I just gave it to her and let her explore on her own. She never came up for air. When she finished reading the book, in one evening, she had tears in her eyes as she hugged me. She said how sorry she was for the kids who were bullying her. The book helped her to understand that the kids who were being mean have problems and hurt feelings too. Yelencsics uses easy to read dialog and situations demonstrating problem solving and conflict resolution through empathy and communication. My child has experienced an increase in self esteam just by knowing her feelings are normal and not at all uncommon. We look forward to future volumes........hurry please!

"Being a Better Me" is one of the best books I have ever read in my life. This book is "real" meaning it deals with real life scenarios that you can not find in a textbook. As a teacher self esteem is one of the biggest concepts I try to teach to a child. This book is a key guide in character building. I was so impressed with the book I invited the author to my school as a guest speaker to all 45 of my art classes I teach. The students were moved by the stories in the book and are asking when will the next volumes be out. I find this book beneficial as a teacher, to my students, and also for the parents.

"Being a Better Me" is indeed a new genre of book that helps children to learn about themselves and how to fit into their social world. The book, for ages 6 - 11, can be read by children or read by parents or read by parents to their children. The stories of everyday occurances in a typical family life describe ways for children and their parents to solve sticky social situations in win-win ways. It is a guide for children to understand that they have power over their actions and it is a guide for parents to understand that they have tools to help their children into "Being a Better Me"

Great book!! The author reinforces important principles for life that everyone should know and do at all ages and also gives senarios that you can remember. This book gives children tools to put in their belts for a lifetime. I will reread this book over and over again!!

Adored this Book! This book is delightful, cover to cover.It is a lesson learning valued addition to our family library. The author of "Being A Better Me" captures your heart, and challenges the reader to "challenge yourself" with it's powerful messages of responsibility to ones self and to others by being the best you can be. I plan to purchase a dozen more copies to pass along to family and friends. I truly believe this book is "ageless" in that young and senior will learn from and enjoy! Looking forward to the next volume!
