Water damaged but good story line.

Excited to have book 1 in the series now but not happy to have received a water damaged book. Pages 215-297 and back cover, from spine to outer edges and up from bottom 1/3 the length of pages is noticeable water damage. Now to finish reading it so I can move on to the rest in the series!

Lucy Delivers

When orphaned Lucinda is forced from the city to the country, she enters more than just wilderness: she enters a strange new life. But when she turns 18 in a year, she inherits a fortune and can dust her boots off and return to the city. Except she's met a handsome cowboy! Lucy discovers leaning on the Lord and letting Him direct her paths proves to be the best choice. Martha Rogers' debut novel sparkles. I loved Lucy and look forward to the next book in the Winds Across The Prairie series.

Enjoyable

This is Martha Rogers' first historical romance novel and I thing she did a wonderful job. While it was a predictable love story, it did have a few twists and turns that I wasn't expecting. It was enjoyable and easy reading and I can't wait for the rest of the series! I'm now a fan!

Godly Romantic Historical makes for a GREAT read!!!

Becoming Lucy, the first book in the Winds Across the Prairie series, is a story of a young woman who just lost her parents, two people she loved and depended on. Upon burying her parents, she is forced to move from Boston to Oklahoma, where she is yet again forced to start a new life. While there, she meets many new people with new ways of living and she meets a young man she never imagined she would like. But can this young man become the Christian she needs him to be? And can she find life outside Boston?? Those are some questions I thought about while reading this book and I enjoyed reading the book well into the night to find out the answers. This author is new to me and I really enjoyed her work. Martha Rogers blends God into this heart warming story. I look forward to more heart warming God filled stories from this author. She is a new one to me but has quickly been added to my growing list of favorite authors! I give this book a 5 star rating with recommendation to all those who want a good, warm God filled story! *Special Thanks to Realm Books for providing me with a review copy*

Awesome Historical Romance

Kudos to Martha Rogers for her first historical romance, Becoming Lucy! What a great illustration of God's grace. And what a sweet love story. This historically accurate tale is loaded with action and adventure, gently woven together with a tender romantic thread. Becoming Lucy is a great start to what is sure to be a fabulous series from Martha Rogers and Strang Communications.

Rogers' First Novel Debuts

Martha Rogers' first historical novel released Monday, January 5, the first in the four-book Winds Across the Prairie series. Her publisher, Realms, the fiction imprint of Strang Book Group, has made Becoming Lucy their first historical romance. Lucinda is forced to leave her beloved childhood home in Boston and move west to a ranch in Oklahoma Territory where her aunt and uncle live. Her parents have died and left her a fine fortune, which she can claim one year from now when she turns 18. In the meantime, she learns a new way of life, complete with a cowboy her uncle is mentoring. Rogers skillfully weaves a story of God's great love and forgiveness and how believing God's promises can turn bad situations for good. Lucy relies on the Lord, releases a world view that no longer works for her, and changes her name to Lucy. Glass Road Productions has dubbed the novel a "smooth, easy read," and I agree. Congratulations, Martha, on the success of your first novel. May you be blessed with many more! I can see teenagers and historical romance enthusiasts enjoying Becoming Lucy. Give Mrs. Rogers 4½ stars! Review by Audrey Hebbert, M.A., Omaha, Nebraska, author of Green Light Red Light
