Basic Environmental Technology: Water Supply, Waste Management, and Pollution Control

This book is an excellent book for Civil Engineering schools. It is a first undergrad course in Civil Engneering/Technology or in Enviromental courses. It gives the basic knowledge in this subjects for prepartion for more advanced under undergrad studies of each of the major items in the book. The book is an overview of these crucial studies, and enables the student to easier undrstand and study the material in advanced courses.

I bought this book for a college engineering course. Not being an engineering major, I thought it would be difficult to follow and get through. To the contrary, the book is a very engaging read and especially informative. This book covers subjects pertaining to everyone's daily life. It explains how sewer and septic systems work, how drinking water is processed, how lakes become meadows and why what you put on your lawn may end up in your drinking glass. A vital resource for those interested in studying environmental pollution sources, testing methods and treatments. A fascinating book for anyone!

I use this text in my course "Water Supply and Wastewater Treatment" It includes some chapters beyond the scope of the course, but there is enough "good stuff" in the first 10-11 chapters to make it appropriate. I hope this text is updated every few years to include new material. The style is clear and has numerous graphics and problems to help the student.
