Just what I needed

Other books are too advanced or too vague. This one starts you off where you need in order to create a strong foundation for a pre-algebra book. Very grateful to have stumbled onto this and I'm learning so much via self-study. Youtube lectures are great to go along with this book and A.I can definitely fill the gaps. Goodluck!

Excellent choice

I just started going to college after being out of school for 9 years. This was an excellent book! It was really helpful and explained everything needed to sharpen my math skills and get an A in the course. Don't buy the book new! Buy it used and then buy the code for like $60.00 on the mymathlab website.

EXCELLENT!!!!

this book was sent to me in excellent condition. it was a used book but looked brand new with no damage or any writing in it. It looked as if it had never been used. It took a while to get here, but other than that this seller will be one of my top picks for next time i buy!

Excellent Teaching Vehicle

Not having paid much attention in school (60 yrs ago) and learning computer programming dicated the need for a refresher course in basic mathematics. The author's approach to teaching is to demonstrate the problem and its various solutions and then provide numerous (up to 60 or more problems for the student to work. Answers are provided only for the odd-numbered review exercises. Chapter tests and cumulative review exercises have answers to all the problems. The text is written in clear language that is easily understandable. As with all endeavors effort is needed on the part of the student. The title is somewhat misleading in that I view this book as a "review" or "refersher" course in basic math not as an introduction to college mathematics which I assumed to be on a much higher plane. At the present I am a third of the way through the book and enjoy it. I highly recommend this book for someone who needs to catch up on their abc's of math. Unlike a lot of books this one has plenty of the hands-on approach to doing math. If you need to learn numbers, this is the place to start.

The best Basic College Mathematics book

The book is really easy to read and follow directions. I like the exercise reviews after each class and the test at the end of each chapter it is very helpful. I really recomend this book.

The Best Jr. High Math Curriculum

I'm a homeschooling mom of 7, and this is the best math curriculum I've ever used for Jr. High. Two of my daughters have used this in 7th and 8th grades and then went right into algebra without any problems. This book is so thorough in explaining each process that very little help was ever needed, and since then they've used this same company's curriculum to teach themselves algebra and geometry. I recommend this to anybody who wants a very easy to use and excellent math curriculum. (By the way, don't let the title fool you. As a much more famous reviewer once said, "A bright 5th grader can use this book successfully.")
