the beloved Drina series

This is the first in the Drina series, and the book introduces us to young Andrina Adamo, or Drina Adams. We learn that ballet is her passion, even though her grandparents, who she lives with, aren't too keen on the idea of her growing to be a ballerina. This will be a recurring theme in the 10 books to follow. Drina is one of the most lifelike charecters I've ever read about, and Ms. Estoril writes such a compelling story about her that I have considered her books my favorites for 10 years. For anyone who has ever wanted to dance, I recommend these books highly.

the Drina series is the most beautiful collection of novels

My Grandmother sent me the first two drina books when I was about eleven and over the years I've managed to collect every one of them. I must have read them a million times because they really are the best books ever. When you read about Drina you absolutely love her. These books made me cry and I think anyone who has any interest in ballet has to read them. I think even if you didn't love ballet you would after reading these. The best thing about them is their passion and character development. I wish I could meet Drina. Anyway, I'm going to carry these books with me forever because they are the best!

This was the best book I've ever read!

Ballet for Drina by Jean Estoril is about a young girl named Andrina Adamo who lives with her grandparents. Drina feels that she was put on this earth for one reason; to dance. However, her grandmother strongly disapproves of it for a mysterious reason left unknown to Drina. However, Drina is convinced and keeps trying to get her grandparents to get her lessons. This book was well written. The references to actual living dancers such as Elizabeth Ivory, really completes the story. When I read this book it feels like I'm living it because of the realistic descriptions, such as of the Selswick School, and Drina's feelings towards dancing. I strongly recommend this book to any ballet lover.

One of my favorite books ever!

I bought the first two Drina books in 5th grade out of a catalogue...and I was hooked! The Drina books are great for all kids, but especially for anyone who wants to be a ballerina or loves ballet. This book is about a young girl named Andrina Adamo, also known as Drina Adams, and her struggles to dance and become a ballerina against the wishes of her grandparents. Ballet for Drina is a great book, but it definitely leaves you wishing for more. I've been trying to find the rest of the series ever since, but unfortunately, they're all out of print. :( >

A beautiful series of books!

I would just like to say that the 'Drina' books are the best books I have ever read. I have all eleven of them and have read them over and over again. Jean Estoril has not only written about the hopes and dreams of the ballerina, Andrina Adamo, but about Edwin, Mona, Pelagia, Edward, Anne and Delphine Garland; The Ballet Family. There are two books that I know of in this series and I recommend them both. They are both full of the charm and magic that Jean Estoril has managed to fill the 'Drina' books with. Finally, I would just like to say, that if you haven't read any of Jean Estoril's books, READ THEM!!! Lauren aged 13
