Hot, hot, hot!

When Dr. Andrew Maynard is saddled with the dubious honor of giving the university's medical students some hands-on training at the hospital, he finds himself asking 'why me?' He's so bored by the prospect that he is about to gouge his own eyes out with one student's PDA when he is caught off-guard, and quite pleasantly so, by another student's compassion for a patient, and subsequently his smooth skin, dark, curly hair and long, elegant fingers. Despite the niggling ethical issues, Andrew gives him more than a passing glance. Matthew Blake, the curly-headed student, is a typical neophyte in the medical field; hopped up on caffeine and buried in books and diagrams and note cards. But what's not typical of Matthew is that while there are some things he may need a mentor for, sex is not one of them. He's Dominant in the bedroom, no question, and he's as intrigued as we are at just how submissive Andrew can be. The sparks fly instantly for these two, and they are both left winded. In Bad Case of Loving You, author Laney Cairo sends the reader, along with Matthew and Andrew, on a snowball's ride into lust and love. We experience both points of view and their voices are rich and well developed. But it's not just the characters that are believable; Ms. Cairo's depth of research and knowledge of the UK's medical field (and of the British Medical Association, the UK's professional union for doctors) are evident in her attention to detail. She tosses out medical terms and procedures like they were common household words. The jargon has the potential to leave a layperson overwhelmed and baffled, and yet it doesn't somehow; it's just one more of Matthew and Andrew's quirks that we learn to adore. (Though I must admit to looking up pictures of a certain kind of intimate piercing on the Internet to assuage my curiosity!) And let's not forget the sex. Every scene sizzles, among them a masterfully written fisting scene that will set your shorts on fire with its intensity, and a shower scene that should hit nearly everyone's buttons. Andrew is heartbreaking in his submission and Matthew's hunger and desire for control takes your breath away (it should be noted that this D/s relationship is purely sexual and remains in the bedroom, and apart from a little binding of hands, it doesn't venture into BDSM). Ms. Cairo's turn of phrase and sense of humor are entertaining and often just plain hilarious. Academic geeks, romantic tension, professional ethics, life-altering decisions, humor, scorching hot sex and a smooth, entertaining writing style put Bad Case of Loving You among my personal top reads.

This is a Story!

Hello: This is what I mean about good gay themed books. The author did a fantastic job and I couldn't be anymore of a fan even if I tried. You like the idea of tutor and student like me then you'll be happy. The characters were well thought out and structured. The story was about the start of a new relationship but also about the characters as INDIVIDUALS alongside their passions. Someone mentioned this book was riddled with medical terms and dragged the story on? Well the book is about doctors and medicine. This book HAS a plot. It has sex, it has a relationship and it has heart. This book does not lack. Word of warning if the sub/dom relationship "squicks" some people. Then realise that this book does deal with it. But tastefully, since guess what I'm not into reading about kinks either. Kudos to the author, may your next release be even better!

Just What the Doctor Ordered

I thought this book was a good hospital romance between two doctors. Andrew, the teacher, is drawn to Matthew, his student, and the pairing is hot!!! But what I liked most was that the book described their lives inside and outside of the bedroom. The drama does surround Andrew and his position apart from Matthew, but this is a love story, and not all love stories are riddled with strife. There is a hint of "dom"/"sub" with Matthew the master and Andrew the subordinate, but it is not your traditional theatrics with whips and chains. Nor, is Andrew subservient when displaying what's in his heart. It's good to see the role reversal inside and outside of the bedroom, that way, there is no burden on one person to sustain the relationship. Plus it allows for each to grow in their own way. If you are looking for intrigue or good ole fashion trouble this is not your book. This book is a gay love story with "no larger than life characters", but about people you meet everyday. The author provides enough balance inside and outside the bedroom to create real characters.

Characters of flesh and blood

Want a white coat romance with a difference? This writer finds the perfect balance between fiction and reality, politics and good fun, sex and love. The fact that it's not boy meets girl, or even simply boy meets boy, but self-assure medical student meets very receptive doctor only helps make it that more interesting! And this is not the first thing she's written! Nor will it be the last!

This M/M romance is a gem!

This lady does write very well and this sizzling romance between a doctor and his medical student is her best effort to-date. Both Andrew and Matthew are such believable characters. The emotion built-up of their romance is intense and sexy. Andrew with his sense of justice is one endearing character as he cares for his patients, colleagues, son and lover. The plot revolving round the medical community and the hospital with is red tape is realistic and well thought out. The sex with a touch of BDSM is really hot and the one with the painting is well..just highly creative!
