Back to Future

This is an essential for any "Back To the Future" Fan. It is based on an earlier version of the movie script, so there are some scenes in the book that are not in the movie. For example, in the movie Marty is given detention, but we are never shown him in detention. The book shows Marty getting out of detention in a very ingenious way. Admittedly, these novelizations were more fun-and more necessary-before the advent of VCRs and DVDs. These books allowed you to replay the movies in your head, being shepherded and prompted by the book. There is a charm to the "Back To The Future" franchise. It has classical elements of fate and an new twist on the Oedipus Complex. The city of Hill Valley becomes a character in its own right.

A picture is worth a thousand words... or is it? Back to the Future is my favorite movie of all time. When I found out there was a book based on the screenplay I was very excited. After reading the book I came to the conclusion that the book was much better. But it was as good as any book that's based on a movie could be. It is impossible to beat the music, the effects, the sets, and acting with Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd who play the famous Marty McFly and Doc Brown. I suggest you see the movie first because you can play the movie in your head while you are reading the book. The book, as most books do go into detail more about the characters. If you have seen the new special edition remade trilogy there are deleted scenes, some of which are in the book! Also in the special edition DVD trilogy you can select commentary while watching the movie. Overall I highly recommend the book for people who have seen the movie and like it.

O.k. the real reason that I picked this book, Back to the Future is because I thought It would be a easy book since I've seen the moviw a thousand times. When I started reading it though the I noticed that something was different about it. I liked this book so much that there is realy know certin section that I could possibley choose. I guess the reason it is, is because the book was in so much then the movie. It explained stuff that I never saw. If you seen the movie you know that when the movie starts it begins where Marty walks in to docs house and blows up a huge speaker. In the book though it starts out with Marty already in school sitting in class. Even though there was alot of stuff added, I think my favoritr part is still where when doc. jumps from the clock tower and the lightning strikes just a Marty goes back in time.

This novelization by George Gipe delves even deeper into the characters of the superb movie than did the movie itself (as difficult as that is). There are, however, some differences from the movie; Gipe must have been given a different version of the script than the final, shooting edition. Overall, recommended.

This book is wonderful and should be read by any Back to the Future trlogy fan. It is a must-read book filled with action and contains a couple of differences with the movie that were probably original ideas not used in the final film.
