Babymouse #7: Skater Girl

This is one of my favorites of the Babymouse books, because while Babymouse, as she always does, throws herself into ice skating, she also learns that even if you can make it to the top, it doesn't always mean you should. Her dreams of Olympic (or even local) skating stardom start to fade with her early morning hours and, oh no!, the fact that cupcakes are forbidden. We (and the author/illustrator) alternately cheer her on and laugh gently with her as she falls on the ice and grapples with a very tough instructor. Babymouse is always adorable, and here she learns a lesson that is a very important one for kids and even winds up with a very special trophy all her own. Perfectly done, will make kids cheer not for a perfect 10, but for a perfectly imperfect Babymouse.

The book is enjoyable and funny especially, when babymouse wants to be a pro skater but she keeps falling when she jumps up to high. She wants to attend ice-skating classes but she never knew she had to go early in the morning.
