ISBN 0307125955 - Every time I turn around, I find a series from Golden Books that I'd never heard of before. In this case, I'd heard of Look-Look Books, but not Look-Look Nature Books. The series, based on this book, looks like another fine addition for the Golden Books collector, as well as for the actual intended audience - kids! Beginning with waking in the morning, Baby Grizzly tells the story of one day in one young bear's life. While her mother gathers roots and bulbs for breakfast, she and her twin brother wrestle. When their mother smells humans nearby, she takes her children away from the area and when she fishes, or shakes to dry herself, the young bear learns by watching and imitating. After a thunderstorm, the moon rises and the family nestles together to sleep. This series has a few different sub-sets, including Dinosaurs, Farm Animals and Wild Animals (of which Baby Grizzly is one). On the back cover of this book are listed 4 books under each sub-title, all of them starting with "Baby...". This makes the set look even more appealing to young children who enjoy all things baby. Author Beth Spanjian's text is simple and the sentences are short, which will make this a nice easy book for beginners and a quick bedtime read for Mom or Dad. The illustrations, by John Butler, are fantastic. You almost want to pet the bears because these look closer to photos than to drawings. Some of the images include cute little things like a leaping frog or some butterflies, but most are very uncluttered and really convey a sense of the peaceful outdoors. The other titles in Golden Look-Look Nature Books, Wild Animals series include Baby Cougar (Look Look), Baby Raccoon (Look Look) and Baby Wolf Look Look Book (Look Look). - AnnaLovesBooks
