Best Sign Language Board Book, #1

As an early intervention teacher, I am so happy to have found a board book of signs that teaches real American Sign Language. The babies I work with really enjoy seeing the photos of the babies and toddlers signing in the book, and I recommend it highly to all their parents. My own 18 month old twins LOVE this book---we have two copies so they can each have one. They are now signing all the signs in the book and saying more than half the words. Kudos to the author. Looking forward to the spring when the next two in the series come out!

Educational AND fun book

My infant son has really enjoyed this book. We have learned several of the signs, and he really loves looking at the pictures of the kids. He smiles and giggles when he sees the pictures. It's a great book in that it's educational and gives us a "project" to work on together, while at the same time, fun to read. I have also seen my four year old looking at it and working on the signs. I look forward to getting other books by this author!

Great book!

This is a great book. The pictures of the kids signing are very clear, and for someone who doesn't know ASL, it takes some getting used to how to make the different signs, and this book makes it very simple. My son always asks to see the pictures of the other kids, and it's a great book to toss in the diaper bag when you're headed out. I highly recommend!

Mom and baby say it's the best!

My son absolutely loves this book. It is one of his favorites, and he always wants to look at it and practice the signs. It's a wonderful way to start, if you're interested in teaching your baby to sign. Even if you only want to do a few signs, this is the way to go. This book uses American Sign Language, which is also very useful in the real world, and very simple/logical. I highly highly recommend this wonderful book.

Fun first book for teaching your baby to sign.

This is a great book for teaching your baby to sign. It has a variety of useful words that are really the best ones to teach your baby when starting to teach them signing. The book features good words for you, the parent, to learn, plus shows adorable babies signing the words, which is interesting to your baby. As a comment on something one of the other reviewers said, I disagree that this book should have pictures of the thing that the baby is signing. We taught our daughter to sign using this book and taking a class. In teaching your child to sign, you have to repeatedly show him or her the sign along with the thing itself, every time you would want your child to use the sign. For example, every time your child wants milk, you have to give milk and make the milk sign. The child won't learn to sign from a book, whether there are pictures or not. The book is a support mechanism. This board book is great for the parents to see the hand shapes for the signs, and is also great for the babies to see other babies signing the thing they are learning. Babies love to look at pictures of other babies, so pictures of signing babies is even better. A picture of milk with the milk sign would be extraneous, and possibly even confusing. I think this is an excellent book for anyone just setting out on learning sign language with their infant. Cute pictures, good words, and easy to understand. An excellent buy.
