Children will really connect with these 38 young animals, from small golden chicks to adorable baby elephants. Dot-to-dots, plus an additional small illustration, provide the artistic fun and visual surprise; fascinating accompanying information teaches youngsters all about these creatures and their world. Each baby's page of facts includes its name (calf, cub, pup, foal); its type (mammal, reptile); how long it spends growing; its birth size and weight; where it lives; and what sound it makes. There are even fun comparisons between the child and the animal, so kids will find out that while a horse can stand up within an hour of being born, human babies can't even hold their head up for four months. Among the favorites included are lions, kangaroos, zebras, pandas, polar bears, puppies, whales, seals, and many more.
This dot-to-dot activity book is great for kids who are tired or bored with the standard simple dot-to-dot books you can pick up almost anywhere. My 6 year old son likes this one in particular because it focuses on animals, and he likes that the numbers in these dot-to-dots go over 100. Each page features a different animal with facts such as: * Name * Type of Animal * Growing Inside (how the animal develops prior to birth) * Size at birth * Weight at birth * Growing Up (discusses the adult age of the animal) * Where it lives * Sounds it makes * You (this part discusses a fact about a person and one or more features of the particular animal - for instance on the crocodile page, the "You" fact discusses a human's set of adult teeth versus the possible 3,000 sets of teeth that a crocodile may have in a lifetime.) This is an engaging book that the child can return to, even after the dot-to-dot activities are completed. It makes a great coloring book too!
Fun for home or school

This is a nice book for home or school. Each animal comes with a facts page and a small dot-to-dot at the bottom, and one full size page of a baby animal and it's mother. There are many animals to choose from, making it a nice source for teachers (i.e., unit study, supplement to textbook story, seat work, etc.)or a fun and independent activity for kids stuck inside at home during a rainy day. The pictures are nicely detailed, and I think it would be best for a child 7+ because the numbers are little and plentiful.
