My son is grown now, but I've been wanting to give this book as a gift. When my son was 2 he had the whole book memorized and would sit and "read" it for hours. As the previous reviewer said, there were so many parts that relate to a young child: the desire to play rather than sleep; how difficult it is to function when you're tired; the joy of choosing for yourself and the disappointment that comes when you realize that it wasn't good for you. I'm sorry to see it out of print as it is still my 20 year old's favorite book of his childhood.
Parents can relate!

As a parent of a toddler, I was able to relate to this book about a little sheep who decided to stay up late and play. He was so tired the next day he couldn't even chew his food! Sometimes we ask our daughter, now 4, if she is too tired to chew -- and she grins. We have yet to find a copy of our own at a reasonable price, so we continue to check it out from our local library branch!
