I laughed, I connected

I truly enjoyed reading this book. The only "experience" I have had with Asperger's is from the character on Boston Legal. Reading about Jesse's life from his point of view was an eye-opener. I have a better understanding of the AS variations in the way that the brain processes empathy, social cues, and other aspects of living that most of us take for granted. I also had moments where I laughed aloud at the creative humor in this book. It is truly worth reading. I will be sharing it with my patients, friends and relatives.

A Parental View

Jesse has unmistakable writing talent, but to write about yourself, and about yourself in terms of "disability", with such clarity, honesty, and humor is a rare gift. No one should be defined by just one aspect of self, and we all need a chance to be known for all of who we are. That takes time, and often people are much too impatient with themselves and others. Personally, I think we're all on the "weird" side! Jesse don't ever stop writing, but, given that writing is usually a solitary endeavor (not the best place for someone with Asperger's to remain), find time to be out in the world where everyone can better get to know all of you.Atypical: Life with Asperger's in 20 1/3 Chapters
