Astrology for Regular People [Large Print]

I had been studying Astrology for some time and could not resist to buy this delightful book. The book follows an innovative and refreshing approach to introduce Astrology to people. These people are drawn as cartoon characters that portray the characteristics of each of the planets. Describing the planets as characters with their own tribulations and victories allow readers to associate better with the planets. The planets are no longer just blobs of matter in a solar system but they are described as personalities we meet every day. The houses and signs are describe in a similar manner - down to earth practical descriptions, yet as comprehensive as any other astrology book. The book will not add much new knowledge for the seasoned astrologer but it introduces to a reader the basic aspects of transits, retrograde movements etc. You wont find the traditional symbols that are used in astrology to depict planets and star signs. This approach does make the book more assessable as an introduction to astrology. I would however prefer to have seen a page that shows the traditional symbols to allow the astrologer to progress to other books on the topic. Besides the normal concepts there are a very down to earth discussion on karma and free-will which I think is important to be understood when one enters the world of astrology. Another interesting add-on I have not seen before was an attempt to propose a model for linking astrology and Christianity. In summary the book is a delight to read even for somebody that knows astrology. For somebody who wants to start off in astrology, I do not know of a better book to recommend. Starting off with this book will certainly give a somebody interested in astrology a good foundation to launch themselves into the world of astrology to discover how the cosmic can add value to personal growth and development.

Many introductory astrology books are strong on word pictures, speaking well to people who are verbally proficient. Here, simple images, visual depictions, use totally different brain circuits to assimilate the basics of astrology. For some, this will seem "too simple." For others, it will open a door that was closed... This, then, is an easier way for the younger less-educated students of astrology. But it is also a way to view the basics of astrology in a whole new way.
