This is one text book that was well worth my money. It is very easy to read and provides a lot of examples. It is a small book for the money, but that is how the text book world runs, right?

I intend to keep this one near me at all times. An excellent reference and clearly written.

It is aligned with the standards-based education reform and outcomes-based education movement. The text identifies tasks in settings that involve real-world application of knowledge and skills. Proficiency performance may result in a product, such as a painting, portfolio, paper, or exhibition, or it may consist of a performance, such as a speech, athletic skill, musical recital, or reading.
