At one time I owned this book but, unfortunately it was "lost in one of my many moves." I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to experiment with Asian cooking. The recipes are not intimidating and have simple instructions. This is the perfect starter to your cookbook collection since it covers some of the more popular Asian appetizers. It made me look like a gourmet chef, especially the glass noodle salad and the Vietnamese spring rolls. The book is not very thick but the photos are very colorful, numerous and well-placed in the book itself. This makes it more user friendly than other cookbooks (where the color plates are located 100 pages or more from the actual recipe they depict!). One possible downfall to venturing into Asian cooking, might be your location. Make sure you can purchase the ingredients in your area. For example, rice noodles, fish sauce, banana leaves and lotus root are only availble at specialty markets. It's a good idea to bring the cookbook with you to the store to use as a grocery list. Bon appétit!
