This is a massive book on the chronicle of art of the 20th century. At it best, this is what current book on art history misses to place. I wish there could be another current book which do a chronicle of art side by side with other development such as philosophy, social-politics, cultural events or others.
The amazing journey through modern art since 1900 to 1999

This book i have bought almost a year back. Though i am no more into art practice these days, but i have the flair to keep reading and following all the art developments that are taking place around the world. This is one of the few books i really loved so far and it has become an obsession for a while for me. When i compare this book with any great 'art book' that exists, this book makes us feel as if we are there at the time of the events that took place in the art history. The other books on art always make us feel as if all the content of the book is one man's(author's) ideology or understanding on art. But here its more like artists themselves speaking to us about their work and how they used to feel about art. One would get to know more about artists and thier insights far better with this book than any other. And it covers all the imporatnt happenings in the fields like literature, cinema, science and philosophy on every ten year basis. I can proudly say that this book could be far more helpful to those of who want to know what and why the many great artists of the world painted or sculpted in that particular fashion. Lots of interesting stories and scandals of the artists to get a general idea as how artists used to live.
