Nancy Devlin has done a fine job of synthesizing the relationship between you and your child's school and provides guidelines for (1) communicating with the school, (2) advocating for your child, and (3) dealing with a variety of issues that may arise between the parent and the school system. I think that this book, along with Gavin DeBecker's Protecting the Gift, are essential reading for parents. This book, in particular, is an easy and quick read and something that I will keep at hand to use as a reference tool throughout my children's K-12 years.
