Angle of Ascent: New and Selected Poems

Robert Hayden, who happens to be African-American, is in my top ten favorite poets, so my bias is obvious. Nonethless, highly recommended for those who want an accurate representation of a particular people's experiences on this continent, from the _Amistad_ case, to slavery and pre-Civil War, to post-Civil War. Oddly: I had an older printing of this volume, unidentified as first edition, but identified as fourth printing. As it was printed in 1975, there was no bar-coding on it. This edition is expressly represented as first edition, first printing, and yet it does have bar-coding.
