I have lost count as to how many times I've read this book to my children. My first grade son, in particular, has nearly memorized it. This wonderfully written story shows how hard it is when a best friend moves away, seen through the eyes of the friend that remains behind. The story shows how she eventually finds a new best friend, yet learns how to always stay friends with her old neighbor Andrew. I have found that it helps when you are separated from friends that are still somewhat local, yet move onto another school. Heartwarming, well-written, a must read for young elementary students and early readers.
