A Journalist's scoop on the Orange Revolution

"An Orange Revolution" is one of the most recent books out on the now famous colour revolution in Ukraine. As an introduction to the subject, Krushnelnycky's book is probably the most readable. He also offers several insights on Yanukovych's black PR and corrupt campaign against Yushchenko during the 2005 election. Krushnelnycky does a good job telling a story that can easily bog-down the Western reader with details and unfamiliar names. The book's chief drawback is the author's obvious bias in favour of Yushchenko's and Tymoshenko's cause. As a consequence, the reader may often find himself/herself asking: "what is the other side to this story?" For a more balanced - though slightly less readable - introduction, see Andrew Wilson's "Ukraine's Orange Revolution." Another good book, directed primarily at academics, is Michael McFaul's and Anders Aslund's "Revolution in Orange."
