An irreverent and thoroughly incomplete social history of almost everything

This book has many funny stories from a wide variety of sources, mostly English due to the author. If you are familiar with the British classical educational system, this will be appreciated. The references are all pre-1970, which is fine for those of us who like to read funny Roman quotes, but some more modern, 21st century ones would be nice too. Of course, the more modern people often think we are the first to do everything and don't know that what we think is original was actually said in ancient Greece.
