KINDA OLD, WRITTEN DECADES AGO, BUT IT IS DEFINETLY WORTH IT FOR EACH BEGINNING PHOTOGRAPHER !IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN ONE YEAR'S EXPERIENCE, THIS IS FOR YOu! A more thorough review: This book delivers everything that the title promises. It is a guide to SLR photography. Covers: film, cameras, light, lenses and filters, traveling, traveler's insurance, composition, macrophotography, and more.It does not really go in depth about each topic, but simply explores them and informs readers about (creative) possibilities and options that are available within each... (For example, in the chapter about lenses there is a section that includes fish eye lenses with an accompanying illustration/photograph, and another section that deals with selective focussing, all within the chapter about leses.) This book is well-written, easy to understand, very practical, and a must-have for every beginner's camera bag simply b/c it informs beginningers about the skills and equipment that is necessary for creative SLR photography. Yes, it was written in the 80s or late 70s, I can't remember which, but its CONTENT remains meaningful for the film SLR artist. Features BNW and color photos, and gives insight on technique.
