America's Top Military Careers

An essential reference for students, parents, counselors, teachers, job seekers, career changers, and others who assist people with careers. All the accurate and up-to-date information necessary to identify occupations in the armed forces with the best career advancement opportunities. Each year, the military recruits and trains about 365,000 people. As one of the nation's largest employers and one of the world's largest training systems, the military offers more than 10,000 separate courses of instruction and hundreds of major career options. This huge array of resources makes it difficult to fully understand the various career and training options -- or how military experience relates to civilian jobs. This book will help. Developed by the Department of Defense, America's Top Military Careers provides a useful and easy-to-understand format for learning about service occupations. It introduces procedures, training and education available, working conditions, physical demands, projected openings, advancement opportunities, duty locations, pay and benefits, and many other details. It organizes military careers into major clusters of similar jobs for both enlisted personnel and officers, making it simple to explore careers based on interest and experience. A special section profiles the careers of real service people moving up to assignments with increased responsibilities. These profiles highlight the training, advancement opportunities, related military occupations, and duty assignments available within each of the career fields presented. Students and others considering enlisting in the armed forces: Compare the relative advantages of each branch of service, consider training and advancement options, and make informed decisions regarding entry into the military. Active military personnel developing long-term goals: Plan long-term career options within the military or prepare for seeking civilian positions utilizing military experiences and training to the best effect. It provides descriptions on basically all the career paths and occupations you can choose from with the picture to go along with it. This book will help me narrow down on what I want to do in the military when I join the USMC.
