Amy Appleby has created a really wonderful, comprehensive collection of American songs, worthy of every family's library. The other reviewer is absolutely correct in saying that this is a treasure-trove of our country's history in music.

I truly believe that America's All-Time Favorite Songs for God and Country by Amy Appleby is one of the most comprehensive collections of American Music ever published. With over 175 songs and dedicated to the Armed Forces, this book includes complete versions of songs that celebrate America. I wonder how many people know that there are four verses to the Star-Spangled Banner as well as four verses to America, the Beautiful. Not only are the complete lyrics here, but the more experienced piano as well as guitar players can enjoy improvising with the chord symbols. Most of the songs have both complete lyrics and chords. The book can be easily played by those who have had 2 or more years of piano or guitar lessons. There are state songs (e.g. The Sidewalks of New York, Alabama, and My Old Kentucky home), military songs (e.g. Army Hymn, Marine's Hymn, and Navy Hymn), songs for the homefront (e.g. Home, Sweet Home and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon), songs for the fallen (e.g. Danny Boy and Amazing Grace), some hymns and prayers (e.g. Faith of our Fathers and All Through the Night), Spirituals (e.g. Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho and He's Got the Whole World in His Hands), Gospel Praise (e.g. Abide With Me and Rock of Ages), Sacred Classics (e.g. Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring and Ave Maria) and Holiday music (e.g. Prayer of Thanksgiving and O Holy Night.) This book is beautifully illustrated and bound with a white plastic comb making it easy to turn the large white pages. With the Statue of Liberty on the cover, the book clearly represents patriotism as it is displayed on the piano music stand.
